Jyotsnaa Vaidison is an 11th grader at Oberoi International School, Mumbai. She attended Myna Speaks in 2020 and was inspired to support thousands of women across India by working alongside the Myna team. Jyotsnaa co-founded and led Mynathon – a virtual marathon aimed at spreading awareness around menstrual hygiene in India, particularly within the lower strata of society and, in turn, promoting good health and fitness during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The turnout of the first-ever Mynathon was a huge success. It can only get bigger and better from next year,” she says. Establishing Mynathon as an annual event is a small step taken towards the destigmatisation surrounding menstruation. She hopes that in the upcoming years, Mynathon acts as a medium through which people around the globe can connect and recognise this as a monumental challenge.
