Hear from our Alumni
Though my initial motivations behind joining Myna were mostly based on my strong interest in working in the field of women’s rights and menstrual hygiene, what I have learnt over the last two months is the fact that there is something equally important: the community and the environment that exists at Myna. I love working around and with so many inspiring, wonderful women who motivate me to work harder and make the most of what I have. I have always been the kind of person who only focused on school work and barely devoted time to anything else, but now, Myna has become my favorite place to be and makes me want to slot out time for it and return whenever I can – whether it be my birthday or just a weekend that I spend there. Myna has also been essential in helping with my other pursuits such as my Extended Essay or research related to women’s involvement in decision-making for my Global Politics IA.
We would like to thank Myna Mahila Foundation for the highly productive experience. It was an honor to be working with the team and we are highly indebted to them for taking out the time to mentor us. Their guidance has been tremendously helpful throughout these past months.
The skills we learned at Myna have helped us develop a practical understanding to complement the theoretical knowledge acquired in the classroom. The workplace culture at Myna motivated us to do our best and the variety of projects we worked on provided an insight into the inner workings of the sector. It was incredibly rewarding to be able to interact with the communities as it provided us an insight at greater length about the directions in social work.
